[edit] History

Lairs first began as study groups soon after Ross Jeffries released his first products and began teaching sometime in the early 90s.[1] They became widely known after the release of The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists by Neil Strauss.

One of the first lairs in the world was the one based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which was founded by Clifford Lee of Clifflist.com, Frank B Kermit of Franktalks.com, Steve "ToeCutter" Celeste and Doc who was featured on several products by David DeAngelo. The lair's constitution, written by Frank B Kermit, became a template for many of the subsequent lairs around the world.[2]

There are said to be hundreds of lairs all over the world. [3]

[edit] Description

A lair typically involves two elements: an online forum and group meetings.[2] These elements are used as resources for men who want to learn to become well-versed in how to successfully attract women.

Lairs are often places that seduction gurus will visit to promote their wares by speaking and advising the group as is mentioned by Neil Strauss in The Game.

[edit] Meetings

Official meetings are one of the two primary methods for members of a lair to interact with each other. The frequency of meetings, their format and length all vary widely from lair to lair.

The simplest format for a lair meeting is that of a question and answer, which often takes on the form of a discussion. In this format, a member in attendance presents a question or problem to the floor and asks for feedback or advice from other members. Depending on the rules of the lair, there may or may not be a time limit for any given question to allow time for other questions to be asked.

A lair meeting may also take the form of a guest speaker meeting where an instructor or guru from the seduction community, who is usually visiting the city because he is giving a boot camp (a type of weekend training course) or seminar, has agreed to speak to the members of the lair on their specific beliefs, experiences and teachings. The format of these meetings vary with the speaker and his (and sometimes her) preferences.

[edit] Online Forum

The online forum is the other method of communication for lair members. The online forum allows for the posting of questions between meetings and also facilitate other activities that are crucial for the members in their attempts to learn to be successful with women.

Firstly, members often use the online board to arrange times to meet to practice interacting with women. These include (but are not limited to) party invitations, meeting at a club/bar/shopping mall to approach women, speed dating invitations and requests for a wingman for double dates. These meetings allow for members to gain actual experience interacting with women while having the comfort and support of those who are also attempting to learn.

Secondly, members often post "field reports," which are similar to diary or journal entries that document interactions a particular member may have had. They are named thus because they are reports which reflect the experiences of a member "in the field." The level of detail in a field report varies from writer to writer but almost always include thought processes, conversations and analyses of what occurred. A variation on the field report is the "lay report" which is a field report in which the member writing successfully had sex with a woman or women, in other words, he "got laid."
